Why don't we sell meat packs?

The sale of hunted game in the Czech Republic is regulated in particular by Act No. 166/1999 Coll., on veterinary care (Veterinary Act), specifically Section 27b, which sets out the conditions for the direct sale of small quantities of game to the final consumer or to a local retail outlet.

Direct sale of small quantities of game

According to Section 27b of the Veterinary Act, the hunting ground user or authorised hunting participant (hunter) may sell small quantities of wild game hunted.

• Directly to the end consumer, i.e. to the person who consumes the venison in their household.

• To the local retail outletwhich supplies directly to the final consumer and is located in the region in which the game was hunted.

Game sold in this way must be skinned or feathered, gutted and chilled.It is prohibited to sell parts of carcasses or already withdrawn venison without the appropriate registration and approval of the venison processing establishment. Each cut must be sealed and accompanied by a game provenance ticket with a declaration by a trained person that the cut has been satisfactorily examined.
