New generation of Silky Outback folding saws

The Outback range has been designed specifically for outdoor and hunting use. The blades of this series are coated with a special black nickel-tin protective coating that significantly extends their life and ensures excellent cutting performance. Thanks to this treatment, the Outback saws can easily handle both wood and bone cutting. The matte finish also eliminates glare, which will be appreciated by soldiers in tactical use.

Another new feature of the Outback saw design is the special handle material. As the saws are often used in cold and wet conditions, the handle has been made of Arbor composite material. This laminate combines the properties of wood and polymer, ensuring a pleasant feel even in cold temperatures. The coarse texture also provides a firm grip and excellent control when cutting.

Safety at work is ensured by a locking mechanism that allows the blade to be locked in two positions (open/closed).

Three times harder blade

The blade is made with precision laser technology from Japanese SK-4 steel, which is highly resistant to wear and mechanical damage. The key element that sets Silky blades apart from the competition is the unique hardening process. The teeth of the blade are heated and hardened only on the edges themselves (so-called pulse hardening), which keeps them sharp up to three times longer than conventional unhardened teeth.

Serrace Mirai Me

The Silky saw blade has a special Mirai Me serration with four cutting angles. Thanks to this profile, it is possible to cut continuously longitudinally, transversely and at an angle, leaving a perfectly smooth surface with each cut.

To make cutting more efficient and comfortable, the blade is ground to a conical shape (hourglass shape), which almost completely eliminates jamming of the saw in the wood and provides an exceptionally light and smooth cut regardless of the material type.

Universal size

The Silky BigBoy 2000 Outback Edition features a 360mm long blade with wide serrations (6.5 teeth per 30mm), making it ideal for cutting both fresh and dry wood and bone.

The curved blade increases cutting efficiency by 15-20% compared to straight saws and also prevents the saw from slipping out of the kerf. This makes cutting overhead or at height easier and safer.

Handle made of Arbor composite

Outdoor saws are often used all year round, including winter months and wet environments. That's why the handle is made of a special Arbor composite that combines the properties of wood and polymer. This material remains pleasantly warm even in low temperatures and its rough texture ensures a firm grip and perfect control over the saw.

Safety at work is further enhanced by the rear locking mechanism, which firmly secures the blade in both open and closed positions. When the saw is folded, the sharp teeth are fully retracted into the handle, allowing it to be carried safely in a backpack or hunting bag. The saw comes with a zippered nylon sheath and a hole in the handle for attaching a carabiner or safety line.

Technologies used:

Electropulse hardening

The tips of the teeth are heated to an extremely high temperature for a fraction of a second. Because only the tip (i.e. the cutting part of the tooth itself) is heated, the rest of the tooth retains its flexibility, which ensures greater durability of the saw. Induction hardened teeth last up to three times longer than conventional unhardened teeth. These special teeth cannot be sharpened and can be recognised by the black colouring at the ends.

Unseparated teeth

The teeth are precisely ground directly into the blade and each has four cutting surfaces. This allows the blade to cut directly into the wood without damaging the grain, reducing material loss by up to 50%.

In addition, the blades are ground to a biconvex shape:

• The lower part of the blade (near the teeth) is the widest,
• The middle part is the thinnest,
• The upper part is slightly narrowed.

This innovative design brings several key benefits:
