The Silent Steel Micro Streamer silencer is designed for those who want to use a silencer whilst keeping their firearm as short and light as possible. Despite its compact size, however, it suppresses noise more than effectively, so even when shooting at a covered range, you needn’t worry if the person next to you forgets to put on their ear defenders and you fire a shot. The silencer also functions as a flash hider and muzzle brake. Don’t believe us? Then take a look at the following paragraphs, where we’ll explain everything.
DESIGN
What everyone is surely most interested in, first and foremost, is the design of the shock absorber as a whole. The internal chamber of the shock absorber is dimensioned so that all the gases flowed smoothly all the way out without you having to make any adjustments to the gas block or anything else. One undeniable advantage is that toxic gases and combustion products flow outwards, so the shooter breathes only clean air. More or less.
However, the gases are not merely an external problem. As their temperature reaches extremely high levels and a large proportion of this heat is transferred into the silencer walls, it was necessary to select a type of steel that could withstand the greatest possible thermal load. Only in this way can the long service life of the entire silencer be guaranteed. Silent Steel has succeeded in this, and not only thanks to the choice of simple designs in combination with stainless steel Excellent thermal management of the silencer is guaranteed. The silencer will be part of your firearm for years and years.
The interior of the silencer is radially symmetric and as the bullet passes through the silencer, it is the powder gases surrounded equally on all sides. The projectile is therefore subjected to the same pressure from all sides and therefore, no undesirable deviation occurs.
Maintenance is also an important issue. Maintenance is a really straightforward affair, the shock absorber can be easily dismantled for maintenance, and individual parts can also be replaced if necessary. Furthermore, the shock absorber can screw onto a barrel of any length, so there are no design limitations here; you simply need to choose the correct thread. There are two mounting options. You can either mount it onto a flash hider, or choose a silencer with the appropriate thread and screw it directly onto the barrel. If you prefer the second option, you’ll find a list of threads at the end of this description, from which we can order a silencer for you. Adapters are also available to change the thread type if required. The advantage of this mounting method is that Every time it is fitted, the silencer is positioned in exactly the same place, so there is no shift in the centre of impact when firing.
An insert can also be fitted to the silencer, allowing it to be used with FX training rounds.
The fact that the designers at Silent Steel haven’t come up with any expensive, one-off gimmicks is also demonstrated by the SOCOM stress test, which the silencer passed with flying colours. So, are you convinced yet that you really need the Silent Steel Micro Streamer silencer? Not quite? Never mind, we’ll carry on listing the benefits.
FUNCTIONALITY
Functionality depends entirely on the design. And this applies not only to the silencer, but to the entire firearm system. It’s simple. If we suppress one muzzle effect, it leads to an increase in another. This need not necessarily be a muzzle-related effect; it could, for example, be increased fouling of the firearm. None of this applies, however, in the case of Silent Steel silencers. The aforementioned increased fouling of the firearm when using a Silent Steel silencer is in the region of a maximum of 5 per cent, which is absolutely negligible.
Another thing that is sure to cross many shooters’ minds is the increase in recoil. With the Silent Steel silencer, this is once again virtually non-existent. The increase in the bolt’s rearward speed is, once again, negligible and with the recoil, it doesn’t even you won’t feel.
The silencer not only dampens noise but also suppresses the muzzle flash. And it does so perfectly. This is due to the aforementioned controlled forward flow of gases and also to the fact that the gases are cooled very rapidly. The chance of the gases igniting is reduced to an absolute minimum and The occurrence of flashes is therefore virtually eliminated. This feature makes the Silent Steel Micro Streamer silencer the ideal option for use in low-light conditions, even when the shooter is using night vision goggles. What does that actually mean? No flash = no deterioration in the instrument’s observational capabilities.
With Silent Steel silencers, there is no risk of them coming loose. When a shot is fired, the gases rotate in a single direction – a direction that generates a rotational force which tightens the silencer even further. As a result, there is no unwanted gas leakage through the thread, which could not only impair ballistic performance but also lead to excessive carbon build-up on the thread, causing rapid wear and damage.
