In the meantime, it was completely dawn and the bush around began to wake up. A family of warthogs had come to drink from the opposite bank, and a short distance away a beautiful male kudu was watching the surroundings suspiciously from the bushes, betrayed by a slight movement of his head.
Christo noticed the movement. It was strange to him that the animal was looking into the tree canopy not far from him. The distance to the other shore was considerable, so he took his binoculars and looked at the tree that the kudu had marked with his gaze.
Christo held his breath. He gestured with his hand for Noemi to come to him, still looking into the telescope. He handed it to her, saying, "There is a tree on the other bank, right above the pigs. Look in the crown, there's a leopard right on the other branch," Christo whispered softly, turning his face so that he could feel where the wind was coming from. He felt nothing, so he kicked lightly with his foot at the dust on the ground. A small cloud rose and slowly floated just above the ground, away from the river.
"See?" vincent said from behind Christo.
Christo turned to him and nodded his head. One of the pigs suddenly raised its head and examined its surroundings with its snout. Christo took Noemi's binoculars and peered at the leopard. The animal moved its front paws slightly, flicking its tail and looking as if hypnotizing the pig below. He was only seconds away from attacking.
"Wow! " Vincent blurted out. The leopard attacked, throwing his entire weight out of the tree and straight at one of the pigs. The animal could be heard squealing in fear and pain. Levhart jammed his mighty paws on either side of the neck of the hunted animal and bit into the top of its head.
