The basic component of single component powders is nitrocellulose (90-98%). Various additives such as chemical stabilisers, surface treatment agents, muzzle flash reducing agents and agents affecting the combustion characteristics of the powder are also used in their production.
Dust grains can be in the form of rollers, tubes, plates, discs or multi-element rollers. Many of these powders are further coated with substances which achieve more favourable combustion characteristics of the powders.
Single component powders are used in ammunition and munitions for short and long guns, mortars, cannons, howitzers and other special applications in various industries.
