V důsledku své tuhé konstrukce se tato střela při dopadu na cíl nedeformuje. Olověné jádro je překryto kovovým pláštěm. Vzhledem k pevné konstrukci vytváří střela hladký průstřel bez devastace tkáně, neboť se nedeformuje při zásahu cíle.
Střelivo Subsonic, jehož střela opouští hlaveň podzvukovou rychlostí a nevytváří tak supersonický třesk, je předurčeno pro použití ve zbraních s tlumičem hluku.
